Glory! Glory! [1]
words & music by Donna Harris
There were shepherds, there were wise men, there were cattle and sheep. There were angels singing sweetly in the sky. Now the Saviour of all had come down to our world, so they sang a most joyous lullaby.
They sang: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
We’ll never be the same!’
Oh, they sang: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Praise be unto His Name!’
You might wonder at His coming, or perhaps at His death, or might never really wonder much at all. But the heart that beats within you cries out for its Lord! To the One who lives again it beats its call!
Singing: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
I know You died for me!’
It’s singing: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Jesus, set this heart free!’
I will worship and adore You with all that I am, letting go of all I thought was mine to hold. Gazing only at You, Jesus, I lay down all my plans and to You and You alone I lift my soul.
Singing: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
I’ll never be the same!’
I’m singing: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Praise be unto Your Name!’
Never mind the sultry voices of the things of this world. Do not let the devil’s lies distort our view of the One who is holy and worthy of all praise. Jesus, humbly we fall down and worship You.
We sing: ‘Holy! Holy! God Almighty,
we give You all the praise!
Holy! Holy! God Almighty!
We’ll serve You all of our days!
Singing: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
We’ll never be the same!’
We’re singing: ‘Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Praise be unto Your Name!
Shepherds Watch [2]
words by Nahum Tate
music & additional words by Donna Harris
Traditional melody: Winchester Old
While shepherds watched their flocks by night all seated on the ground, the angel of the Lord came down and glory shone around.
Fear not! said he; for mighty dread had seized their troubled minds. Glad tidings of great joy I bring to you and all mankind.
To you, in David’s town, this day is born of David’s line a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord, and this shall be the sign:
The heavenly babe you there shall find, to human view displayed, all meanly wrapped in swathing bands and in a manger laid.
Thus spake the seraph and forthwith appeared a shining throng of angels praising God and thus addressed their joyful song:
All glory be to God on high and to the earth be peace. Goodwill henceforth from Heaven to men begin and never cease!
So, even though that song is done,
the story does not end.
He came to live, He came to die,
He came to rise again.
All glory be to God on high,
He saved a wretch like me!
Come worship Him, come give Him praise!
He came to set us free!
Come worship Him, come give Him praise!
He came to set you free!
I worship Him, I give Him praise!
He came to set me free!

Midnight Clear [3]
words by Edmund H. Sears
music by Donna Harris
It came upon the midnight clear,
that glorious song of old,
from angels bending near the earth
to touch their harps of gold:
“Peace on the earth, goodwill to men,
from heaven’s all-gracious King!”
The world in solemn stillness lay
to hear the angels sing.
But with the woes of sin and strife
the world has suffered long.
Beneath the angel-strain have rolled
two thousand years of wrong.
And man, at war with man,
hears not the love song which they bring;
O hush the noise, ye men of strife,
and hear the angels sing.
For lo!, the days are hastening on,
by prophet bards foretold,
when with the ever-circling years
comes round the age of gold
when peace shall over all the earth
its ancient splendours fling,
and the whole world give back the song
which now the angels sing.
O Come All Ye Faithful /
When I Survey The Wondrous Cross [4]
O Come All Ye Faithful (tune: Adeste Fideles)
words by John F. Wade
When I Survey The Wondrous Cross (tune: O Waly, Waly)
words by Isaac Watts
arranged by Donna Harris
O come, all ye faithful,
joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!
Sing, choirs of angels,
sing in exultation;
Sing, all ye citizens of heaven above!
Glory to God, in the highest;
When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small;
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.
Yea, Lord, we greet Thee,
born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be glory given;
Word of the Father,
now in flesh appearing.
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!
Jesus Loves Me [5]
words by Anna B. Warner
music & additional words by Donna Harris
Jesus loves me! This I know,
for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong;
They are weak, but He is strong.
Jesus loves me — This I know!
Jesus loves me! — Oh how do I know?
The Bible tells me so.
Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.
Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way;
If I love Him when I die
He will take me home on high.
I know He died for my sin and I can’t hide the joy that’s within and I must take His love wherever I go.

There Is A Fountain [6]
In memory of Jane Clarke Davey
words by William Cowper
music by Jane Clarke Davey
arranged by Leonard Ballantine
Used By Kind Permission.
There is a fountain filled with blood,
drawn from Emmanuel’s veins;
and sinners plunged beneath that flood
lose all their guilty stains.
The dying thief rejoiced to see
that fountain in his day;
and there have I, as vile as he,
washed all my sins away.
Oh I do believe, I will believe,
Jesus died for me.
And on the cross He shed His blood;
now He sets me free.
Dear dying Lamb, thy precious blood
shall never lose its power
till all the ransomed host of God
be saved to sin no more.
E’er since by faith I saw the stream
thy flowing wounds supply
redeeming love has been my theme
and shall be till I die.
The Resurrection Day Song [7]
words & music by Donna Harris
A baby was born into darkness to a girl who was favoured by God. The husband would call Him Emmanuel: ‘God with us’ and truly He was. The shepherds would worship the newborn. Great kings travelled from afar. And a king close to home feared a threat to his throne,
but the angels sang out the glad news:
He is here! Messiah is here!
Great hope is here today.
A light in the dark, a plan to redeem,
God sent His own Son to say:
“I am the Life, I am the Truth,
I am the only Way…
The Resurrection and the Life.”
So, He has come. He is here!
We worship Him today.
The Man gathered up His disciples. Though the people would rarely discern this Man as the Christ, a prepared sacrifce, He hoped one day soon they would learn. He healed the sick and the wounded. Changed hearts, changed lives, and changed views. Some knew He was the One, praising God He had come, and celebrated the Great News:
The Man prayed alone in the darkness. His friends fell asleep by the way.
Arrested and scorned. A crown made of thorns. The innocent man crucified.
This spotless Lamb named Jesus laid out in the sealed, guarded tomb.
But after three days the stone rolled away;
an angel declaring the news:
“He’s not here! No, He is not here!
He is alive today!
He is not dead! That’s what I said!
He is alive today!”
Out of all of God’s miracles
I love this One the best:
Once dead in my sin, not held by the grave,
now living inside me, my debt fully paid!
Oh, sing “Hallelujah!”
He’s alive today.
At Calvary [8]
words by William R. Newell
music by Donna Harris
Years I spent in vanity and pride,
caring not my Lord was crucified,
knowing not it was for me He died
on Calvary.
PANEL 5 – Janine Elvin
Mercy there was great, and grace was free;
and pardon there was multiplied to me;
and there my burdened soul found liberty
at Calvary.
By God’s Word at last my sin I learned,
then I trembled at the law I’d spurned,
till my guilty soul imploring turned
to Calvary.
Now I’ve given to Jesus everything,
now I gladly own Him as my King;
now my raptured soul can only sing
of Calvary!
O the love that drew salvation’s plan!
O the grace that brought it down to man!
O the mighty gulf that God did span
at Calvary!

Praise Him In All Things [10]
words & music by Donna Harris
Praise Him in all things.
Praise the Lord! Lift your voice!
Praise Him in all things.
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
From the rising to the setting sun I’ll forever praise Him. From the evening to the breaking of the day. Praise Him in the city streets and in His sanctuary. In the country, by the seaside, praise His Name!
Praise Him in His holiness, His majesty, His splendour. In the power and the glory of His name. Praise Him in the difficult, the simple, harsh, or tender. All things are in His hands so praise His Name!
Lift your praises higher still for all the world to see them. Bearing witness to the faithful God we serve! Let voices sing, let praises ring, praise God in each and every thing. Praise the Lord, our Saviour, God and King!
Million Places [11]
words & music by Donna Harris
Do you wonder why?
Ever wonder why?
Stop and realize
things are hardly what they should be?
Do you take the time?
Ever see the crime?
Only bills and dimes?
Never dreaming of what could be?
Skipping past the pain,
but it still remains,
with the world in chains,
rarely working to what would be,
if we just look around us.
Do you look around?
Ever look around?
Really look around?
Ever wonder if you’ll see that
something really bad,
something very wrong,
evil really strong…
Can we really fight against that?
Seems a lot to ask.
An overwhelming task.
Easier to pass.
Maybe nothing can be done but
just look into their faces.
She waits on a darkened corner.
He works for a dime a day.
His friend is a child solider far away.
They work but they make no living.
An orphan without healthcare.
All slaves to a grand injustice
and they see nobody cares.
PANEL 6 – Kevin Ketteringham
Do you wonder where?
Ever wonder where?
Do you look right there,
down the street or ’round the corner?
Is it only far?
Is it where you are?
Can you take your car?
Does oppression follow borders?
What if it were me?
Then, what would you see?
Where would the blame be?
Would it even really matter
as much as the solutions?
Do you hear the sound
of a turnaround?
Maybe finally found
the dream of how things could be?
Do you feel there’s more?
Something to fight for
nagging at the core of your being?
So, we should say:
Gonna make a change!
Sure, we might look strange.
Time to rearrange
our normal to a new one
that we might make a difference.
I choose to offer Him my all.
I choose to live my life
according to God’s call
to love His children who are lost
no matter what the cost.
To see His love in a million places
brought forth by a million faces
because of the saving grace
that sets them free!
To fight for the billion faces
and souls no matter what their place is.
To cry out for justice in the darkest night.
I choose to offer Him my all.
I choose to give Him my all.
All My Work [12]
words by Albert Orsborn
music by Donna Harris
Saviour, if my feet have faltered
on the pathway of the cross,
if my purposes have altered
or my gold be mixed with dross,
O forbid me not thy service,
keep me yet in thy employ,
pass me through a sterner cleansing
if I may but give thee joy!
All my work is for the Master,
He is all my heart’s desire.
O that He may count me faithful
in the day that tries by fire!
Have I worked for hireling wages,
or as one with vows to keep,
with a heart whose love engages
life or death to save the sheep?
All is known to thee, my Master,
all is known and that is why
I can work and wait the verdict
of thy kind but searching eye.
I must love thee, love must rule me,
springing up and flowing forth
from a childlike heart within me,
or my work is nothing worth.
Love with passion and with patience,
love with principle and fire,
love with heart and mind and utterance,
serving Christ my one desire.

Hearts Wanted [14]
words & music by Donna Harris
an adaptation of words by John Lawley
Like looking through the want ads,
wond’ring what He wants from me.
What could I ever give Him?
What could He ever see me be?
Flipping through the pages,
looking for a start.
Suddenly the thing I watched for
simply read – WANTED: Hearts.
Hearts to hoist the colours bravely.
Hearts to share the hardest fight.
Hearts to know their duty clearly.
Hearts to dare and do the right.
Baptized with fire,
Cleansed from all sin,
Will go in the mire
And do anything for Him.
Be firmer, be braver,
Like heroes before.
Enjoy God’s full favour,
And to love Him more and more.
Hearts are wanted.
Hearts like these are wanted.
He calls for hearts that will be
beating true forever
and will for all others feel.
Deny the Saviour never
and the wounded ones will heal.
Overflowing with compassion,
renewed by grace divine,
aglow with full salvation,
crying out “Thy will, not mine!”
To reach and love the masses.
To help Him seek the lost.
To help Him save all classes.
To help Him save the worst.
To share with Him His weeping.
To bear with Him His cross.
To help Him with the reaping.
To trust through gain or loss.
To be holy like Him,
His image shine through me,
To turn away from sin,
Only following His lead.
With all to Him given,
Possessed by His love,
On earth for this “second”
But inspired from above.
Hearts are wanted.
Hearts like these are wanted.
If I take the time… what will I find in mine?
O Jesus, Thou Art Pleading [15]
words by William W. How
music by Samuel S. Wesley
arranged by Donna Harris
O Jesus, thou art pleading
in accents meek and low,
“I died for you, my children,
and will you treat me so?”
O Lord, with shame and sorrow
we open now the door;
Dear Saviour, enter, enter,
and leave us nevermore.
PANEL 8 – back cover
A Light in the Dark takes us on a journey that follows Jesus – the Light of the world. Through His birth, death, and resurrection He brought hope, meaning, and purpose to our lives. We are then challenged to take action and be His light in this dark world. The darkness is great in our time. Oppression and injustice are common themes all around the world and in our own communities. We hope to use this CD to raise awareness of modern-day slavery in the form of human trafficking prevalent in Canada and abroad.
We thank you for supporting The Salvation Army’s fight against human trafficking. All of the proceeds from this CD are being directed to The Salvation Army sponsored, anti-human trafficking projects designed to protect individuals and educate communities. For more information, please visit our website www.markedbylove.com.
Thank you to Majors Wilbert and Bertha Abbott and to all our friends at Guelph Citadel. Your support and encouragement of the group and this project are greatly appreciated. Thanks to Ken Bailey and Connie Reilly for your kind equipment loans, to Aaron Reilly for your assistance during recording, to Alina Ticknor for your great help with the CD artwork, and to Avril McNeilly and Mark Sturge for your listening ears.
To Ted Marshall – it has been our pleasure and privilege to share in another project with you. We cannot thank you enough for all that you do. Thanks for everything.
To our families – we love you and thank you for all you do to support us individually and as a group. You are amazing and we’re so glad you’ve been a part of our journey from the very start.
And above all, we give thanks to God – the very reason we sing. May our sole focus always be to give You the honour and glory You are due. Thank You for allowing yet another “impossible thing” become a reality.
